Macclesfield Town players and staff joined more than a thousand willing participants in the East Cheshire Hospice's Midnight Walk last night. The Club's representatives included players Colin Daniel, Hamza Bencherif and Jon Brain. Amongst the others joining Mike Rance on the walk were Penny Baguley, Julie Briggs and McIlroy Suite host Chris Fisher. The SST was represented by George Williams and friends.
The team completed the circular 10 kilometre walk which started and finished at the Leisure Centre, taking a route through Prestbury and Tytherington, in just over three hours. Their sponsored efforts, together with the proceeds of the bucket collection held at at the Moss Rose at Saturday's game against Barnet, will raise several hundred pounds for the charity.
Commercial Manager Penny Baguley who organised the club's participation in the event said. "The Midnight Walk is the Hospice's most important fundraiser and we just had to be part of it. The folk that took part represented the heart of both the playing and back room staff at Moss Rose. It was a beautiful night for a walk and in the end I think everyone enjoyed the occasion. I'd like to thank everyone who took part but especially the players who joined us after a tough home game yesterday afternoon. It's great to have their committed support for our community activities."
It's not too late for you to sponsor the team and add to the total raised by the club for the Hospice. If you'd like to help then contact Penny at the club on 01625 264686 or donate directly to the hospice HERE
East Cheshire Hospice cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses from which there is no cure and supports those important to them. They help patients and their families and carers to live life to the full.
Their services are free, but they receive less than 23% of their annual costs from government and so have to fundraise over £5,500 every day to keep going.
