SKY SPORTS will broadcast Middlesbrough vs Sheffield Utd as the first live Coca-Cola Football League match of the new season.

The match, which kicks-off at 8pm on Friday 7 August, will be the first of up to 80 live Coca-Cola League games to be shown on Sky Sports this season including the Play-Offs and all three Finals from Wembley.

The 2009-10 season is the first of a new three-year agreement with the Football League. In consultation with the Football League, Sky Sports has today announced 11 live matches featuring 18 different clubs over the first two months of the season. Further live matches will be announced as they are confirmed.

Also in August, Sky Sports will screen two live games from the First Round of the Carling Cup with Darlington v Leeds United on Monday 10 August and Bury v West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday 11 August.

BBC step in following Setanta's demise

Meanwhile earlier this week BBC Sport today announced the first four live and exclusive Coca-Cola Championship games to be broadcast during the forthcoming 2009/10 season. The games mark a return of live Championship football for the first time since 1987 and will also be broadcast live at BBC Sport Online.
