Macclesfield Town's Chief Executive Patrick Nelson has informed the Board that he will be taking up the post of Chief Executive of the Irish FA in Belfast. Subject to the usual formalities he will take on the new role over the summer providing leadership to the game in Northern Ireland.
Whilst much of his responsibility will relate to the development of football at grass roots level he will also face the exciting challenge of leading the Association as the Northern Ireland national team enters the final stages of World Cup qualification with a real chance of making it to South Africa next year.

During his time at Moss Rose Patrick has worked hard to put the club on a sound financial footing.
"Being the Chief Executive of a Football League Club is a privilege" said Patrick. "It's not an easy job as it requires you to take decisions that are often not universally popular but I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Moss Rose. I wish everyone at the club the best for the future and will be working with the Chairman and Manager over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition. I certainly intend to come back regularly to support the Silkmen over the coming season."
Chairman Mike Rance said "Patrick's contribution has been much appreciated by the Board. He brought a level of professionalism to the Club behind the scenes that will stand us in good stead for the future. We wish him all the best in his new role".
