Martin Gritton is hoping a niggling ankle injury, one that kept him out of Chesterfield's midweek trip to Aldershot, will have recovered sufficiently in time for him to feature in Saturday's game against the Silkmen.

Gritts certainly made himself a popular member of the Moss Rose dressing room and the club in general during his 18 months with us, after his free transfer from Lincoln City. But as befits his modest character he is not sure exactly what kind of reception he will receive.

"When I was a player at Macc there were fans that had a go at me and others that were behind me. I am certainly looking forward to seeing all of them and I suppose there are plenty that are looking forward to seeing me for whatever reason," said Gritton.

"The main thing is that I will get a chance to see some very good people who looked after me very well at a great football club and it will give me a chance to say goodbye.

"I never really had that opportunity. The move came out of the blue. When you reach my age, stability is a key factor. So to be offered a two and a half year deal was something I just couldn't turn down."

Four months into his life at Saltergate, with three goals from fourteen games under his belt, the big man has no regrets.

"We have a lot of experienced professionals and a good squad. As a player you want to play as higher level as possible. I am no different in that respect.
