It has been a mixed few weeks for Gareth Evans. The young striker, in only his second full season as a professional, became the first Silkmen player to reach ten goals this season.
But at the same time he is as disappointing as anyone with the level of inconsistency the team has showed.
"Reaching double figures is I suppose the first target most strikers set themselves," explained Gareth. "So I am delighted I've gotten there and hopefully there are more goals in the tank."
"I know I have been helped with the run of penalties we have been given. But you still have to put the ball into the back of the net."
"However I believe I have improved as a player. I feel stronger and have a better appreciation of where, as a striker, I need to be. As a result I think I am getting into more goal scoring chances and if I continue to do that, whilst working on my finishing hopefully I can reach fifteen or maybe more. There are still ten games to go and I don't see why that is not beyond me."
But the young striker was the first to admit that the team would have to perform a lot better than they did against Accrington in the week, to be in with a chance.
"It's hard to explain what happened on the night. We went out there full of confidence on the back of the win at Darlington. But it just didn't happen."
"On the Saturday balls into the channel were finding the forwards. Against Accrington they weren't. As a result we never really had hold of the ball and there was no fluidity to our play."
"It was a massive disappointment and the gaffer, quite rightly, laid into us in a big way after the game. We owe it to ourselves and the fans to put that right against Bournemouth this weekend."
