Most people at the Moss Rose on Saturday were at a loss to understand why Simon Yeo's perfectly judged header on 70 minutes was ruled out. It would have given the Silkmen a three goal cushion and settled any remaining doubts we were on our way to a much needed three points.

But ruled out it was, the official line being one of his team mates had strayed into an offside position. Simon was thus deprived of bagging a brace and also the honour of scoring our 600th league goal. Hopefully the landmark will be achieved this Saturday when we travel to Bournemouth and it may well fall to Simon who is expected to lead the line against Jimmy Quinn's team.

But it got us thinking, of all the 599 which ones stand out. Obviously John Miles' goal against Notts County had special significance and who can forget our very first one against Torquay?

With that in mind we are looking to compile a list of our top ten league goals. The final list will be decided by you the fans, and we are inviting you to send in your nominations (as many as you like) from which we will collate the top 10.

It does not necessarily have to be a 40 yard screamer or a mazy run and finish, just a goal that had special significance and will stick in the memory for years to come. When emailing in your nominations if you could add a few comments then even better.

The Top Ten will then be featured in a forthcoming match day programme. But please limit your nominations to league goals only (excluding the play-off games against Lincoln).

Send your nominations to richard.stanton.t21@btinternet.com
