Keith's reaction
After the victory over Luton, Keith Alexnder was very happy with his side's display:
"I felt we played very well today, considering that we had five young players in the team and three seventeen-year-olds on the bench which made it more pleasing.
"I thought we'd have started the season a lot better than we did and obviously that hasn't happened but it's good that we've got a result under our belt at home in front of our fans.
"I brought Simon Yeo to the club despite his years because in all his career he has scored goals, I thought he might have had more of an impact coming off the bench but we've not been scoring so he had to play. He will score when he gets the chances and he was a little unlucky to have his other one disallowed. Obviously he tired towards the end but he'll help the other younger players around him.
"I'm not one to pick individuals out of a great team performance so I thought as a defensive unit we did very well including Brainy in behind the defence.I was disappointed to let the goal in at the end because I knew exactly where he was going to put it but I'm not going to complain because we've won our first game.
"After the second half of the Crewe game when we played 4-4-2 I thought it worked well for us so I kept with it today, obviously some weren't used to it and young Matthew Flynn came in and I thought he was fantastic. If they play like that then the team picks itself.
"Fortunately a few other teams around us lost or drew today so it keeps the ones behind us well behind so we can go to Bournemouth and have a real go at them.
"I see every day in training that they can pass the ball very well, their problems are in decision making on when to make the pass and when not to. I think today and for the second half at Crewe everything fell into place. Our passing and movement was good, the end product at times wasn't brilliant but if they had everything they wouldn't be down here.
"A lot of things have been said about the team which I think are unfair but I've been in the game for 20 years and I'm just carrying on trying to do the things I think work to turn this round so hopefully we can go on a little run now."
