The Silkmen head to Gresty Road on Tuesday hoping to banish the memories of Saturday's horror show. But with Keith Alexander having said he wants to make changes, the extent to which he does is limited by the competition rules.

"The rules of the JPT dictate that you have to play a minimum of six of your regular first team players. So having only played six games with almost the same set of players each week my hands are tied especially given Sean Hessey is suspended, Jamie Tolley and Franny Green are injured and Ahmed is away on international duty," explained Keith.

"But I will certainly be looking to make as many changes as I am allowed to do so as it is clear that they have to be made."

"The JPT is a competition I want to do well in but it tends only to grab people's attention in the latter stages as the chance of a Wembley final is within touching distance. But our trip to Crewe has taken on far more importance as its a chance for me to look at some of the lads who I am thinking of playing at the weekend, and for those who played against Darlington its yet another chance. And whilst we are going there to win, the level of performance we put in is almost more important as the result. So I will be looking for strength of character and the desire that has been sadly lacking in our league games so far."
