LOAN defender Clayton McDonald is relishing the chance of regular League Two football at Moss Rose - and the youngster is in determined mood for his first senior, three points this weekend. The Manchester City centre back had no hesitation in swapping reserve team football under Mark Hughes for his first taste of League action.

But now he is on a mission to claim his first win in a Macc shirt against Accrington Stanley at the weekend - to really get his month's loan started.

"I have settled in great and everyone has made me really welcome. It could not have been nicer really from that point of view, but I want to start winning some games," said McDonald. "We are all in the same kind of mood really. We have trained well all week and we really want to get those first three points against Accrington. It will be tough, but we are ready for that."

McDonald is in the second year of his first professional contract with City and has been a regular in their second string for the last 18-months. The loan came out of the blue for the 19-year-old, who graduated through the City academy and he said: "I just was in training and Mark Hughes told me that Macclesfield wanted me on loan and I jumped at the chance.

"There is no substitute for playing in the league and this is just part of my learning curve really. It is great experience and I am looking forward to it.I have a year left on my contract and I want to get out and play as many games as possible so that I can go back to City and try to win another contract.

"At the moment it is just a month's loan, but I understand that there is an option to extend that if all goes well and I hope that it does."
