The Silkmen made it two wins in two on their pre-season to Northern Ireland this evening thanks to a brace from Danny Thomas. The midfielder scored both goals in a tight encounter that saw Keith Alexander's men run out 2-1 winners.

The team received a set back prior to kick-off with the news that Jon Brain had injured his neck and was unable to take to the field. With no other keeper in the party the Silkmen were grateful of a loan keeper who played in front of the following formation:-

Defence - Read, Brisley, Walker, Hessey, Deen

Midfield - Dunfield, Bell, Thomas

Forwards - Gritton, Evans

With the likes of Shaun Brisley starting their 3rd game in the space of four days the visitors got off the perfect start when Danny Thomas combined well with Lee Bell and coolly put the Silkmen ahead on seven minutes. The home side were on level terms after 40 minutes when Wayne Buchanan got to the ball first from a set piece, something that will have disappointed the watching Keith Alexander.

Thomas regained the lead ten minutes into the second half, his shot taking a deflection to leave the home keeper stranded. With the effects of this week's earlier games seemingly having an effect, the manager changed things around after the hour mark with a string of substitutions, youngster Matthew Flynn replacing Shaun Brisley whilst forwards Martin Gritton and Franny Green gave way for Simon Yeo and Gareth Evans.

It proved the last real action of note as the clock ticked down with the Silkmen rarely looking troubled at the back. The squad now have a deserved day off before their last game of the tour on Saturday at Coleraine.
