Bradford Park Avenue 0 Macclesfield Town 1
Keith Alexandar saw his side record their first win of the pre-season against Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday. A crowd of just under 300 were at the Horsfall Stadium to see Francis Green net the only goal in what turned out to be a comfortable victory for the Silkmen.
That made it two in two for the striker, who followed up his goal against Congleton in the week with another well taken finish. But as was the case three days earlier the Silkmen were not able to take advantage of their possession and chances created.
"I was pleased with the performance as at times I thought we played some nice football," explained Keith Alexander. "The one thing that was missing was our finishing apart from Franny who took his goal very well. That's something we have to work on but at no stage did I think they were going to score as we had a lot of the ball and looked solid at the back when we needed to be."
Seventeen players travelled to Yorkshire, with the likes of John Rooney and Matthew Flynn made available to John Askey for a practice match. The starting line-up saw Lee Bell, Richard Walker and Francis Green coming in to the XI who began the game at Congleton.
Substitutions took place upon the hour mark, the most notable being the introduction of Neil Harvey for his first run out in Silkmen colours.
