Next stop Bradford Park Avenue
Keith Alexander was looking forward to another useful test this weekend with his side due to face Unibond Premier Division outfit Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday.
"We had a useful run out on Wednesday and I was pleased to give most of my outfield players a 45 minute run out. Only Neil Harvey missed out as he had picked up a slight strain in training. It is nothing too serious but there's little point in risking things so early into pre-season training and I expect him to feature this week," explained Keith.
"I tend not to worry too much about the results at this stage. It is more about performance and learning lessons. I was pleased with the way we took our goals at Congleton albeit we probably should have had two or three more. On the flip side I was disappointed with the way in which we conceded two goals from set pieces. We looked a small side out there and it is important that the lads are strong in the challenge and positive when attacking the ball. But all in all it was a good test."
"I suspect we'll do something similar again on Saturday against Bradford Park Avenue. It's all about getting some minutes under your belt as we look towards our first league game against Shrewsbury. It's only when we return from Ireland that I will hone in on a more settled starting XI."
The game at the Horsfall Stadium kicks-off at 3pm and admission prices are as follows:
Adults - £5
Concessions - £4
Kids - £2
