Transfer News

Posted on: Fri 23 May 2008

The Silkmen made another early foray into the transfer market with the signing of centre forward Simon Yeo today. The 34 year old was released by Chester City in the summer, after a brief spell on loan with Bury last season, and joins us on a twelve month deal.

Simon started off his career at Hyde United before joining forces with Keith at Lincoln City. During his initial spell at Sincil Bank his goals played a big part in the Imps securing three consecutive play-off spots. His 46 goals came from just 87 starts and 56 appearances from the bench.

A move to New Zealand did not work out as planned and he quickly returned to Lincoln before following Keith to Peterborough. He has since played for Chester and Bury.

Speaking about his new signing Keith said, "Simon did a great job for me at Lincoln. He has shown he is a proven goal scorer but for what ever reason his last three moves haven't really worked out for him."

"As a rule I don't like to sign players over 30 but in Simon's case I was happy to make an exception as I know what he can do and I equally I know how hungry he is to make up for the last few years."
