Emile Sinclair's close range finish 15 minutes from time earned Macclesfield their first home point of the campaign after Craig Davies had earlier put the Spireites ahead.

Gary Simpson recalled Izak Reid to his first eleven, with Colin Daniel and Ross Draper making their first starts of the season after the dismal defeat at Accrington, whilst the visitors came into the game unbeaten and featuring two ex-Silkmen in Tommy Lee and Danny Whitaker.

Tyrone Barnett looped a header goalwards in the very first minute but it was easily caught by Lee and after Draper was brought down 25 yards out Matt Hamshaw's free kick flew well over.

The first strike on goal for the visitors came on eight minutes when Davies' cross was deflected into the path of Mark Allott and as the ball sat up perfectly he smashed a volley goalwards but Jose Veiga gathered it comfortably.

The usually prolific Jack Lester headed Scott Griffiths' deep cross over the bar and minutes later Whitaker almost capitalised on a misplaced pass from Draper when he intercepted on halfway before driving forward, cutting inside onto his right foot and curling just wide.

Danny Whitaker - The former home favourite had a quiet afternoon but still found space for a few trademark 20 yard efforts

Another Barnett header was collected easily by Lee when he connected with Sinclair's centre but the best chance of the half was squandered by Macc three minutes before the break.A free kick was flicked on by Barnett and Hamshaw stole in behind the defence only to be thwarted by the legs of the keeper as he came out to block his shot and Daniel couldn't quite reach the rebound.

Tyrone Barnett hit an audacious effort from 30 yards out wide on the left just before the interval when he swivelled and volleyed viciously over. Then after a free kick was half cleared to Bolland he hit a shot from the edge of the box which was almost turned on target by Draper.

It took a while for the second half to kick into gear and it looked unlikely that a goal was going to come with neither keeper being troubled too much.

On the hour Izak Reid's clever ball past the full back allowed Sinclair to cut infield and into the box but on his weaker left foot shot a few feet over the top corner.

Dean Morgan was introduced for Lester and the summer signing was immediately involved - forcing Veiga into action to parry his shot from an acute angle and then almost turning provider to play a perfectly weighted ball into Drew Talbot's path, but Veiga just rushed out quickly enough to get there first and deny him.

Nat Brown - The powerful centre back had few chances to add to his two goals but did brilliantly to frustrate Lester

Seconds later though from the resulting throw, a cross in from the right fell to Whitaker who wasted his chance but was fortunate that the ball then came through to Davies at the back post to smash into the corner from six yards.

Davies came within a whisker of adding to his tally soon after with a swerving long range effort which whistled just wide of the top corner and Talbot called Veiga into action again with a snapshot from the edge of the box which was heading for the bottom corner.

Just as it looked as if Chesterfield would double their lead the Silkmen drew level when Bolland's incisive pass out wide allowed Carl Tremarco to charge onto it and play a perfect low ball into the box and Sinclair's pace allowed him to get in front of his man to confidently finish from close range.

Sinclair-Shrewsbury

Emile Sinclair - In the right place to notch his first of the season

Hamshaw fired a first time effort wide as Macc pushed on for a winner with time running out but the Spireites still had their own chances to regain the lead.Morgan beat two men on the right and whipped in a dangerous cross which looked to be perfect for Davies at the back post but Veiga came out to just get a hand on it to palm to safety.

Nat Brown forced Lee into a good save with a header from a Hamshaw corner and both defences had a few nervy moments in the closing exchanges with long balls into the box but had to settle for a point at the end of four minutes of injury time.
