Both sides scored from corners at the Star Lane End as Macclesfield earned a deserved point which takes them to within touching distance of mathematical League Two safety.
Nat Brown nodded the Silkmen in front after just three minutes but Matthew Tipton's second half own goal gave the Brewers a share of the spoils in an end to end game at the Moss Rose.
Brown climbed highest to head Lee Bell's corner in from Macc's first attack, leaving Polish keeper Artur Krysiak rooted to the spot.

Nat Brown - Towering header gave Macc early advantage |
For the visitors Shaun Harrad had their first effort on goal when his near post effort was blocked by skipper Paul Morgan and from the resulting throw-in Russell Penn drove a shot just wide.
John Rooney's 14th minute volley brought a smart save from the keeper after he connected with Matthew Tipton's nod down and Tipton himself then went close himself when he shot across the face of goal after surging into the area.
A vicious effort from Harrad nearly caught Jon Brain out at his near post but he got across to hold on well after a good spell of pressure for the Brewers.
In the 27th minute Lee Bell again picked out Brown from a corner and this time his header fell to Vinny Mukendi who saw his effort blocked by the keeper as he turned it goalwards.
A great move from the Silkmen almost rewarded them with a second goal in the 34th minute, only to be denied by the linesman's flag.Mukendi was played in down the channel by Rooney who met his return ball at the near post, and when his shot was parried to Tipton his volley into the ground was headed in by Rooney before the linesman silenced the cheers.
Soon after the visitors also had the ball in the net but again the flag was up to chalk it off when Jacques Maghoma's cross was tapped in at the near post.
Tom Parkes went close to levelling when his angled drive beat Brain but was cleared off the line by energetic midfielder Lee Bell, showing great determination as Macc defended stoutly when necessary.
The Silkmen came out strongly after the break and young striker Mukendi, after being rewarded with a new contract in the week, looked to be playing with greater confidence making a number of terrific runs at the Burton backline.
The best of these came on 49 minutes when he picked the ball up just past the halfway line and beat three men before carrying the ball into the box and hitting a low effort to the far post which was well palmed clear.

Vinny Mukendi - Had an impressive evening and certainly the best of his four recent games, looking powerful and dangerous |
Somewhat against the run of play the Brewers levelled when they won a corner after Macclesfield's best spell of pressure of the evening.John McGrath's inswinging flag kick was met at the near post by Tipton who glanced a header past Brain and into his own goal to the delight of the travelling fans.
A snapshot after great control from Mukendi was well held at the near post as Macc struggled to kick back into gear after the setback of conceding when on top.
On 63 minutes Shaun Harrad dragged an effort wide and Maghoma's drive was well held by Brain as the ball bounced to him on a hard Moss Rose pitch.
Chances continued at both ends with Tipton's swivel and volley forcing the keeper into a good save after taking a slight deflection and John Rooney going close to putting Macc back ahead when he tried to place an effort into the bottom corner when teed up by Emile Sinclair but the shot was blocked by team mate Matthew Lowe.
Sinclair's pace caused problems for the visitors defence and on a number of occasions he made up huge ground on his marker to reach through balls first but couldn't quite find a finishing touch.
Centre back Tony James should have put the Brewers ahead when he flew in at the far post to meet a deep corner but from just a few yards he headed wide and then came off worse after colliding with the post.
Substitute Michael Simpson's rising drive was deflected over and in the final ten minutes Burton forced a string of dangerous corners but came no closer than Maghoma's wayward effort after a fine passing move on 86 minutes.
However Macc also went close to finding a winner in stoppage time when Sinclair's blistering pace got him in behind the tired defence and his shot from 15 yards was well saved by the keeper.
Only an unbelievable run of results could now see the Silkmen relegated and a very respectable mid table position is well within reach after tonight's results gives Macc a brilliant return of 18 points in Gary Simpson's ten games in charge.
