Goals in each half saw the Silkmen beaten 2-0 by Darlington at the Moss Rose in the final home match of the season.
Both sides had chances in the gamer but the Silkmen couldn't make the most of their openings to draw their first blank at the Moss since February.
The Silkmen were beaten 2-0 by Darlington at the Moss Rose after a typical 'end of season' display at the Moss Rose. It was a slow start forthe blues and the visitors capitalised after nine minutes when they won a free kick on the right which Miller headed in off the underside of the crossbar.
Jon Brain then had to be on form to parry a low shot smartly away from danger.
The Silkmen's best early chance fell to Emile Sinclair. It was thanks to good work from Lee Bell that he found Sean Hessey wide on the left. The defender whipped in a cross which Sinclair met with a first time volle only to see his shot well saved.
It was the Silkmen's pacy forward who was behing most of the best of the attacking play and he turned creator to brat his full back and fire in a low cross that whizzed inches ahead of Matthew Tiptons outstretched boot.
Izak Reid was next to try and carve an opening as a good solo run ended with him forced wide and his cross/shot was saved.
The Silkmen had to make an early sub after an injury to Vinny Mukendi which left him sat on the bench with an ice pack for the rest of the match. He was replaced by Colin Daniel after just 34 minutes.
Macc had a great chance to level just before half time when Matty Tipton found space to put on a dangerous cross but Nat Brown powered his header just over the bar.

The second half began with the Silkmen looking to level the scores and Junior Daniel carved out the chance with a powerful cross which was headed wide by a defender for a corner.
The visitors then won a highlt controversial penalty when Paul Bolland looked to have clearly taken the ball in a tackle, and the Moss Rose was stunned to see a penalty awarded.
But on this occasion justice was done as Jon Brain guessed correctly and dived to his left to save. Before the ball was cleared, a Darlington forward headed the ball wide of the post, and inexplicably,corner was given but the Silkmen cleared.
Jophn Rooney came on to replace Matt Lowe before the Silkmen had another good chance to score as Sinclair beat the defence for pace but screwed his shot wide.
Another sub saw a return to action for Carl Tremarco who replaced Shaun Brisley.
The Silkmen were struggling to impose themselves on the game and the visitors doubled their lead soon after. A good passage for play down the right led to a cross to the far post which saw an unmarked Smith on hand to head past Brain.
Nat Brown had another good chance to score, this time from a corner which he headed just wide before the three minutes of added time called an end to another season at the Moss Rose.
