The Silkmen travelled to an unbeaten Lincoln side, looking to kick start their season.

Brian made a number of changes to the team that lost to Barnet, with Lee, Brightwell, Morley, McIntyre and Weir-Daley in from the start.

It was the home side that got off to the better start and minutes with some
good passing moves and they had a chance in the second minutes to take the
lead but Beevers cross was to strong for his team-mates.

The Silkmen had an early chance but Tippy's shot was straight at Marriott. The home side came back strongly and could have taken the lead in the 17th minute when a great pass by the Stallard was meet by Jeff Hughes who outpaced Brightwell to the ball but, luckily for the Silkmen, Tommy Lee rushed out and did just enough to make Hughes put his shot just wide.

But soon after the Imps did have the ball in the back of the net. Jamie Forrester picked up the ball on the right, looked up and saw the run of Imps midfielder Scott Kerr. A cheeky pass with his heel found Kerr who took the ball round the oncoming Lee and slotted the ball into the net.
1-0

Straight from the restart the imps went close to adding to their lead, then out of the blue the Silkmen almost scored when on loan Striker Matthew Tipton collected the ball after a loose pass and his shot hit the outside of the post and bounced away to safety.

The Silkmen almost went two behind when a quick free kick by Frecklington just went over the top of the net with the Silkmen caught napping.

The Blues had chance but their shots were from long range and easy for the Imps keeper to save.

The first Sub of the game came after just 30mintues when Martin Bullock was bought on for the injured Brightwell. After the sub the home side enjoyed some good attacking pressure forcing the Silkmen to clear the line in any way they could.

The home side had three corners in quick succession and it was the third that counted as it brought with it the Imps second goal of the game. A corner from the
right was whipped in over everybodies heads but at the back post was Forrester
who kept the ball in play and headed back into the path of Lee Beevers who, just inside the box, volleyed the ball straight towards the goal.  His
shot beat Lee and it was 2-0.

The Silkmen players had thought the ball had gone out of play before Forrester headed it back but the goal stood.

As the game headed into first half injury time the Silkmen steped up a gear and in the second minute of injury time the won only their second corner of the game, which was blocked by a Lincoln player's hand.  From the free kick Jimmy McNulty found the head of defender Rob Scott who header at the back post was planted into the roof of the net, giving him his first goal for the
Silkmen.

Straight after the restart the whistle blew for half time. 2-1.

Into the second half and it was the home side which went close to scoring after good work down the wing the ball found Forrester who's shot flew
across the face of Tommy Lee's goal and out for a goal kick.

The Silkmen did find the net on the hour mark after a long ball by Morley found Tipton who hit a shot into the back of the net but sadly for the Silkmen the Linesman had his flag raised for an earlier offside.

An end to end game ensued with both teams playing some good football.  The first yellow card of the night came in the 63rd minute after Jeff Hughes' run was illegally blocked by Rob Scott.

The Silkmen second sub of the game with 20minutes left on the clock with A-line player of the month Jordan Hadfield replacing James McNulty.

Another Macclesfield corner came along in the 72nd minute but Marriott commanded.  The Silkmen continued to press for the equalling goal with  further attempts from Swailes and Weir-Daley.

The home side had a chance to win the game with 10minutes left when a whip cross almost fell to Ryan Amoo but a last ditch tackle from Kevin McIntyre cleared the ball in the nick of time.

With seven minutes left the Silkmen took off Dave Morley and brought on striker Matt McNeil as the Silkmen looked for that all important goal.
The Silkmen were throwing everything at Lincoln and had three quick corner's but to no avail.

With four minutes of injury time to be played the Silkmen kept the pressure on but strong defending made sure the score line stayed the same.

Even though the Silkmen came away with no points from tonight, every player gave their all and if they play like that week in week out I'm sure the Silkmen will go up the table in no time.

Well done to the 46 Macc fans that made the journey over the Lincolnshire.
