Brentford vs Macclesfield Town
Saturday 4th October 2008
Kick-off 3pm
The Silkmen head to the West London this weekend for a tough looking encounter with Andy Scott's Brentford outfit. The manager, like Keith, was one of the nominees for the September Manager of the Month award and since joining the club has turned the Bees in a hard team to beat, this season having conceded just three goals in the eight league games played so far.
KEITH'S THOUGHTS ON THE GAME
"Brentford were one of my tips to surprise a few people this year and the first two months of the season suggest they are going to be there or thereabouts in the mix. But I still think this is very open league. Having beaten Bournemouth they've gone on to pick up six points from their next two games against Bradford and Darlington. Exeter was a big blow to us but a reminder that we have to stay focused for 90 minutes. Hopefully on Saturday it will be the side who did so well in the three previous games who will turn up as if they do they're a match for anyone."
TEAM NEWS
Gareth Evans will be again be unavailable as he sits out his third and final game after picking up a red card at Dean Court. Jamie Tolley continues his rehabilitation but is someway off full fitness and Richard Walker is again expected to be unfit to play.
OPPO's CURRENT FORM
The Bees currently lie fourth in the Coca-Cola League Two table with fifteen points. Having lost to surprise leaders Bury on opening day, the West London team are unbeaten in their last seven games picking up another three points last Saturday when they travelled to Chesterfield.
At Griffin Park they have won two and drawn two, conceding just two goals in those four games against Grimsby (4-0), Dagenham (2-1), Rotherham (0-0) and Lincoln (1-1).
PAST ENCOUNTERS
The sides met for the very first time in League action last season with the home team running out 1-0 winners on both occasions. The fixture at Griffin Park in March was only Keith Alexander's second game in charge and he had the heartache of watching his team succumb to an injury time Glenn Poole winner.
LATEST ODDS
The bookies at bet365 cannot see much further than a home win, the Bees on offer at 8/11. Macc are priced long at 4/1 with the draw looking good value at 5/2.
We also like the look of Simon Yeo to score at anytime in the game at 12/5 but if you think it is going to be a tight affair you can get 8/11 on their being two goals or less in the game on Saturday.

ONE TO WATCH - Nathan Elder
21 year old Nathan Elder joined the club in January from Brighton & Hove Albion. A promising youngster Brentford saw enough in him to part with a £35k transfer fee. And whilst he has taken time to settle, with three goals to his name so far this season the lively and hard working forward is certainly one to watch out for on Saturday.
