The Silkmen take on Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium this evening in the 1st Round of the Carling Cup, and Gary Simpson believes his side should not be over awed by the prospect of taking on the Championship club.
"No one really gives up a chance, so we've not got anything to lose," explained Gary. "But the 1st Round always throws up a few surprises and there's no reason why it can't be us."
"Personally I like the chance of pitting my wits against the bigger clubs and that's the attitude I want to see from my players."
"It's a great stadium and a great playing surface. So I am looking forward to seeing how they approach the task."
What sort of side do you think they will put out?
You never know but I would be surprised if they didn't put out a near first choice eleven. It's their first home game of the season, and having lost at the weekend, coupled with the fact the new manager will be looking to make an impression in front of the home fans, I am expecting them to go with a strong side.
And what of Macc?
The lads who played on Saturday did well but I think it took a lot out of them. They looked a bit leggy in training on Monday so I may look at make a few changes. I've had reports back from their game against Palace and there's area I know we can look to exploit.
Any new injuries to report?
Tyrone picked up a dead leg and Tommy (Tremarco) got a knock to his shoulder. But hopefully both should be fully recovered and available for selection.
What sort of game are you expecting?
Well as I've already said, they will be looking to make an impression. So I expect them to come at us early. I imagine we probably won't be seeing as much of the ball as we perhaps might be used to in a League Two game, so its important we make the most of it when we have possession.
