Keith Alexander interview

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

We spoke to Keith Alexander about the weekend draw at Bournemouth and the upcoming trip toGrimsby.

Have you calmed down since Saturday?

"Yes, the game is over now and there's nothing we can do about it now.

"But anyone who has seen the goal on the replays will have seen that it is a clear push on our lad. But we've not been getting those decisions recently so we need to forget it, put it behind us and concentrate on Tuesday."

Does being sent to the stand result in a touchline ban?

"I've not heard anything from the League about it, so I'm expecting to be on the bench tonight as usual."

The controversy aside, is it a positive that we have come away from a top side with a point, pushing them all the way?

"Of course. We have gone down there, taken the lead and really battled hard. But once again we've not come away with three points.

"Whether it's been a mistake by the officials or us missing our chances it's happened too often this season that we have put in all the effort and fight but not come away with what we think we might have deserved from the game. Hopefully that is something we can put right tonight."

We're going from one end of the division to the other. Grimsby haven't won in 23 matches, do you think that will be playing on their minds?

"It might, but I certainly hope it doesn't play on ours. Grimsby are a little like us at the moment in that they have been playing well but not getting the results their performances might have deserved.

"They have signed a few new players and have picked up some good results. I've seen them play a few times this season and not seen them lose yet.

"We know that anyone is capable of getting a result in this division, after all few people would have expected us to take a point from Bournemouth, so let's not think it is going to be any sort of easy ride because of the run they are on.

"But we know we are as capable as anyone of taking the three points and will be travelling over there with that intention."
