After his side had missed two days training as a result of the snowy weather, Keith Alexander was delighted to finally get his team together today and focus minds on the visit of Notts County to the Moss Rose on Saturday and the season ahead.

"After the disappointment of Saturday we were keen to get back in and start preparing for Saturday's game. But waking up to a blanket of snow on Monday meant our plans were thrown up in the air," explained Keith.

"Several of the lads including myself have a bit of a journey to get to the training ground, and even if we had managed to battle our way through, we would have only been able to train indoors."

"So it made sense to tell the lads to stay at home and do some work on their own. But it was good to get back today and we had a good session. County lost at the weekend as well so both teams will be looking to bounce back. Let's just hope the weather relents and we can get down to playing some football."

"And especially now the transfer window has closed," explained Keith. "I have no qualms about saying I don't like the concept. It's restrictive and can have an unsettling affect on both teams and individuals."

"Thankfully it is all over now and we can concentrate on building on the progress we have made over the past few months. We've of course lost the services of Martin Gritton and Terry Dunfield but at the same time we have freshened up the squad with the arrivals of Emile Sinclair, Tom Elliott and Rikki Bains."

"Ideally I would have liked to have brought in one or two more faces and we did make bids for both a midfielder and a forward. Those bids were what I felt were fair and having been turned down we weren't going to go back in offering silly money. It's the only way as otherwise you can end up paying way over the odds."

"But I am happy with the squad we have at the club. We've shown we can compete with the best that the league has to offer and as the young lads grow stronger and develop we can only get better."
