FITC Development Centres

Posted on: Wed 16 Dec 2009

Macclesfield Town's Football in the Community scheme have been extremely happy with the progress of this seasons development centres.

The first set of centres, block 1 has just come to an end, with block 2 due to start in January.

The development centres aim to discover and develop the outstanding football talent in the area with the players then progressing to the Silkmen's Centre of Excellence, which has already provided several first-team players.

Currently Football in the Community has centres operating in Macclesfield, Manchester, Chapel en-le frith and Altrincham with around 170 boys taking part ranging from under 9's to under 12's.

The development centre recently featured in the Manchester Evening News, with comments reporting on how the Silkmen are recruiting the best boys in the south Manchester area, particularly at the centre at Parrswood High School in Manchester.

The Football in the Community coaches are always recruiting new players and have been delivering sessions at both primary and secondary school all across the borough in order to find the best players.

Look out for further expansion to the development centres with the possibility of opening a boys elite centre in Macclesfield and also a girls development centre.
