Braintree have only won one of their last five games in all competitions including a 5-2 defeat away at Dulwhich Hamlet in the FA Trophy who were subsequently drawn to face the Silkmen.
John Askey’s men have been in much better form with Macc losing just twice in all competitions this year.
Last Time Out
The Silkmen’s visit to Braintree was the third game of the season and John Askey’s men ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
Danny Rowe opened the scoring for Macc on 10 minutes and Chris Holroyd added a second 21 minutes later.
Jack Sampson made it three with just over 15 minutes of normal time to play. Braintree added a consolation goal in added on time courtesy of Lee Barnard from the spot.
Both teams finished the game with 10 men on the pitch after Mitch Hancox was sent off late on along with the Iron’s ‘keeper Jamie Butler.
Star Man – Michael Cheek
The 25-year-old striker is Braintree’s top goal score with an impressive total of 12 goals in the National League and FA cup.
11 of those goals came in the league including a brace against Southport back in November and he isn’t just scoring goals – Cheek has four assists to his name in 28 league games.
The striker started his career at Heybridge Swifts before moving to Chelmsford City two seasons later where he made over 40 appearances scoring 15 goals.
